Ask.com Planning To Expand Its Web Presence in China

In the Wall Street Journal, an article titled "IAC Looks to Expand Web Presence in China" reports that Ask.com is planning to expand its presence in China within two-years.

Barry Diller, the company's chairman and chief executive said he plans on spending $100 million on a new Internet business in China and there is a plan to bring its search engine, Ask.com also in the market. He spoke to the Wall Street Journal reporters on this occasion and disclosed some of the future plans. He said, "We've certainly got enough capital to do damage". He is quite aware of the risk to such an undertaking and even admits it. The same strategy that they used to expand in the European markets, will be used with this China expansion.

This new company will run a media and advertising Web site and it will be launched within a year.
