According to a news by a Seattle-focused Web site “TechFlash, Brad Goldberg,
general manager for Live Search, has joined the the list of other executives
to quit the company as he will head up the online business at an investment-firm Peak 6 very soon.

It looks to me that there are 2 data centers the serps and they are rotating in and out. One data center is presenting much better serps the other may be a way microsoft is working on the bot and is throwing the spammy one.

The Live Search has come up with an entirely new search engine crawler that is named as msnbot/2.0b

According to The Live Search Blog,

“You’ll still see the current version msnbot/1.1 (+http://search.msn.com/msnbot.htm) as Live Search’s primary user agent. We intend to ensure that any robots exclusion protocol you are using is respected. As such, you don’t need to update your Robots.txt file. We plan on crawling at a slow speed during the tests with the updated version.”
