Google lands up in a problem with a Chinese company, Beijing Guge Science and Technology over the issue of name. Google's Chinese name which is a transliteration of the English word "Google" is also used in Beijing Guge's commercially registered name. The Chinese company is going to take some legal actions against Google Inc's China subsidiary for copying its name. They have already filed a case and it has been accepted by a court in Beijing's Haidian district. However, the fate of the case is still unknown.

The company said that the US search engine's registered Chinese name is too similar to its own and has harmed their operations. Due to the similarity in the names people constantly call the company office and make inquiries about the search engine. The phone number of the company is listed in the local telephone directory. So, it becomes easy for people to get the number. Tian Yunshan, a company official said to the media persons that “We just want Google to change their commercial name. We have already passed our demands on to Google … We will see what happens in court." When asked about the company's operations or its products or services, he denied to comment anything on this issue as it was "not convenient" to disclose such details.

Still there is no confirmation from the side of Google on the legal issue. It was not very clear which party will have the chance of success.
