Collection of FAQs About Google Sitelinks!
March 4th, 2008 | RSS Feed
Do you already know something about Google Sitelinks and would want to know more about them? Recently, sitelinks made news as Google added them to a whole new set of websites and this was a happy moment for us too as we got them for ourselves.
Sitelinks are a set of links, that Google shows just below the result of a website appearing on the SERPs. These links are hyperlinked to the main pages of your website. While Google chooses them randomly, you can control the number of sitelinks that appear.
Now, Cristian Mezei has compiled a great FAQ on Google Sitelinks, though unofficial but surely ultimate.
The in depth overview of the topics covered includes information like:
- Procedures which may be involved in the appearance of Sitelinks.
- Top 5 reasons Google may decide to show your Sitelinks.
- Misleading advices about Google Sitelinks.
- And of course the FAQs.
Apparently, there's quite a lot of advice from several specialists and/or bloggers from the industry about how to get sitelinks, since all of it isn't helpful, as either it's too general or they could be simply loose-ends, feels Cristian.
Here's one FAQ:
"Q: I don't have a Google Sitemaps account. Will I still get Sitelinks ?
A: Definitely. The only drawback is that you will not have any control over them."
The other FAQs covered are:
Q: When are Sitelinks generated ? Is there some kind of Pagerank-alike update ?
Q: I can't see any Sitelinks generated within my Sitemaps account, although they appear in Google!
Q: Why doesn't my very important "Clients" page get in the Sitelinks section ?
Q: My website doesn't have too much text links. Does this mean I'm doomed ?
Q: What's the point of having these stupid Sitelinks ?
Q: What's the minimum and maximum number of Sitelinks I'll get ?
Q: How are the Sitelinks calculated ? Which links get in and which not?
Q: I have a page in the Sitelinks section that doesn't exist anymore. What should I do ?
Q: In my Sitemaps account I can remove Sitelinks if I don't like them?
