It's Search Engine Rankings time again and ComScore has released its findings for the'U.S. Search Engine Rankings for June 2008'. According to the new results, search engines like Microsoft and Yahoo! have finally gained some ground, but they still aren't even close enough to make Google drop a sweat. According to ComScore, Google is still way ahead of any other search engine, when it comes to raw number of searches for the month of June.

In April 2008, I had covered the ComScore U.S search engine rankings and even then, Google was still the king as it is now. According to the new results, for the month of June, around 11.5 billion searches were conducted throughout America, that is being considered as a 7% increase, than in the month of May. Google continued to maintain its hold in the search engine realm with a 61.5% searches. Yahoo! recorded 20.9% searches, that is a slight gain from the figure of 20.6% in May. Microsoft also recorded a gain of almost 1%, by touching the figure of 9.2%, while its figure in May was 8.5%.

For the month of June, Google continued to show, that it is the most preferred search engine in the United States, with 7 billion core searches (up 6%). Yahoo! Recorded 2.4 billion core searches (up 9%) and Microsoft recorded more than 1 billion core searches (up 15%).

Google again led the way, when it came to expanded searches for the month of June. These results combined the search engines their affiliated websites. As per the results, Google sites showed 9.6 billion searches (up 9%), Yahoo! Sites came in second with 2.6 billion searches (up 8%), Microsoft recorded 1.1 billion searches (up 14%), followed closely by AOL LLC with 792 million searches.

These were the U.S. Search Engine Rankings for June 2008 as recorded by ComScore. One of the factors that can be associated with the rise of Microsoft's figures is the launch of the 'Live Search Cash Back Program', that was initiated in the month of May and could have contributed to the result figures. The results clearly show that, inspite of Google's constant grip on the search engine market, other veterans like Yahoo! and Microsoft have showed improvements and can be expected to continue this steady progress in future.
