The vast and beautiful sky fascinates people from all age groups. And Google Earth is all set to make you experience the space in a totally new way. The new feature, “Sky,” on Google earth will be something like a virtual telescope. This is quite similar to Google Earth with the only difference of the satellite view pointing just the other way. With this latest feature, users will be able to explore the vast space right from their own computer. Google recently, announced the launch of 'Sky', that allows users to see the blue sky as seen from planet Earth. This service can be availed via Google Earth.

With this easy-to-use tool, one can view and navigate through 100 million individual stars and 200 million galaxies. Google uses high resolution imagery and informative overlays to create a unique background for visualizing and learning all about the space. To access Sky, one have to click "Switch to Sky" from the "view" drop-down menu in Google Earth, or simply click on the Sky button on the Google Earth toolbar. The interface and navigation are same like the steering, including dragging, zooming, search, "My Places," and layer selection that can be found on the standard Google Earth platform. Sky is fully integrated into the latest version of Google Earth, rather than composing its own standalone program. This Sky service is slated to start today in all countries and languages where Google Earth is accessible.

Google's Pittsburgh engineering team, created the 'Sky' interface by combining together imagery from numerous scientific third parties including the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), the Sloan Digital Sky Survey (SDSS), the Digital Sky Survey Consortium (DSSC), CalTech's Palomar Observatory, the United Kingdom Astronomy Technology Centre (UK ATC), and the Anglo-Australian Observatory (AAO).

Lior Ron, Google Product Manager said, “We're excited to provide users with rich astronomical imagery and enhanced content that enables them to both learn about what they're seeing above and tell their own stories. By working with some of the industry's leading experts, we've been able to transform Google Earth into a virtual telescope.”

Sky is a very cool feature for satisfying the curiosity of thousands of people. It will foster and initiate new understanding of the universe by bringing the whole space to everyone's home computer. To access Sky in Google Earth, users have to download the latest version of Google Earth, available at: http://earth.google.com.
