Google AdWords Not To Allow Personal Attacks On Politicians

Announcing its new policies, the Google Public Policy blog for AdWords has declared that the political ads should not include accusations or attacks relating to an individual's personal life, nor can they advocate against a protected group. Further, the Google AdWords requires politicians to comply with the editorial guidelines that states that they can campaign for any political view; ask for donations provided, they are a non-tax-deductible organization and you should never mislead the searcher. All in all, these policies go to show the strict but strong stand that Google is initiating.

However, the new policies have been criticized by many and think of it as something against the basic right to speech. Quoting the first amendment which clearly states that all speech, in particular, all public speech, must be allowed, so that the real truth can be assessed by an informed public, this move hasn't been well-taken yet.

Google on the other hand, has called it as something that is a good thing for the political process and with this initiative they aim to work with fairness and freedom of expression.

In our daily life, none of us would like to mix our personal lives and political life. So now the question is, don't the politicians too have a personal life??
