Google Analytics has undergone nip, tuck and is here with a renewed and fancier look. Brett Crosby and Jeff Veen launched the latest version at the Emetrics Summit in San Francisco.

Google Analytics

Google combined forces with Urchin, which they purchased back in 2005 for the final result. Some of the new features include:

  • Email and export reports: Schedule or send ad-hoc personalized report emails and export reports in PDF format.
  • Custom Dashboard: No more digging through reports. Put all the information you need on a custom dashboard that you can email to others.
  • Trend and Over-time Graph: Compare time periods and select date ranges without losing sight of long term trends.
  • Contextual help tips: Context sensitive Help and Conversion University tips are available from every report.

Jeff Veen at Google's official blog says, the change is a result of user response and demand. "We started over a year ago with dozens of interviews with power users, those new to analytics, and everyone in between. They told us they needed their data organized in a more intuitive way. They wanted to be able to see traffic trends in context with more explanation of what the numbers mean. And they needed tools to help them communicate what they'd found with others. This research fed months of development and design iteration to create a totally new user experience."
