Google Chrome Already Setting A Record Of Sort, Within 4 days Of Its Launch!

The latest Economic Times story, tracking the response that Google's 4-day old browser, Google Chrome is receiving, must have sent a chill down the spines of the existing web browser companies in the virtual market already. This desktop browser offering from Google has taken over 1% share of the global market, within only four days of its launch.

Google Chrome will have to wait for longer before it can upset the massive 72% hold that Microsoft's Internet Explorer has created for itself over the years. KPMG Executive Director, Akhilesh Tuteja's observation was on similar lines. He remarked, “Since the desktop is largely in the Microsoft domain, it is conceivable that IE will continue to enjoy its default browser status for the desktop in the near foreseeable future”.

Analyzing the acceleration in the existing web browser competition that Chrome has now brought to the market, The Economic Times stated,“Chrome is in direct competition with IE and Firefox, which enjoys 19.73% of the market share. The other browsers like Opera, Safari and Netscape are still fighting for a substantial market share”.

Kaustubh Dhavse, Deputy Director (ICT practice) Frost & Sullivan, emphasized upon Google's relentless effort towards reaching out to the largest possible number of masses being extended with Chrome, stating, “All of Google's products are based on American ethos. It is simple to use despite its complex architecture”. Mr. Tuteja added to this, saying, “Google is striving to ensure that Chrome will work properly with the most popular sites on the web. Massive testing is expected, and it should work as well as a Firefox Beta. Initial tests of the Chrome are being done at a fast pace by thousands”.

Despite the simple functionalities and uncluttered look of this web browser, people seem to be complaining about Chrome lacking essential features, like, bookmark managers, the RSS reader, etc,.

The fact that Chrome has been launched in the BETA mode is causing speculations among web analysts regarding its adaptability by various enterprises.

The Google team, however, seems to be very confident about its new browser creation, and a Google spokesperson reiterated this belief stating, “Our efforts are targeted at making the web better for everyone and further advance the openness of the web. Towards this objective Google Chrome has been developed and is being released as an open source project under the name Chromium. The intent is that Google will help make future browsers better by contributing the underlying technology in Google Chrome to the market, while continuing to develop additional features”.

This initial response to Google Chrome leaves no doubts in our minds regarding the fact that this desktop browser has quickly found a way into many peoples' hearts.
