Google Experimenting New Online Ad-serving Tests
August 11th, 2007 | RSS Feed
Google is always working on to come up with new experimenting and testing ways for delivering relevant and latest types of ads. In a recent blog posted by Alex Kinnier, Group Product Manager of Google, it was mentioned about a new test related to ad serving technology that is presently being carried out by Google authorities. The success of the test will help the users understand online ad serving in a much better way. New approaches to privacy for third-party ad servers are used for the experiments. It was mentioned in the blog that the privacy features that will be tested in these experiments will take into consideration some of the recently-announced policies of Google like a shorter expiration date for the cookie set on your computer and anonymization of the logs data after 18 months.
An opt-out mechanism will be introduced for the first time that will help users to opt out of the test ad-serving cookie if they want to. New methods will also be experimented so that better transparency can be provided for consumers along with some additional controls over the data collected by ad servers. Have a look at the ideas with which Google team is going forward with their new test:
- Crumbled Cookies- with this the data typically linked with one particular cookie ID can be broken down to a number of different cookies and diffuse the ad history of individual users
- Better forms with Ads- It will help users to understand who is serving the particular ad they are seeing and what amount of data is being collected
- Users feedback- users can give their own point of view about any ad.
There is still time to say where these ideas will work out or not. But its sure that these innovative ideas by Google will give a new look to the online advertising world.
