Once again the mysterious position six penalty seems to be doing the round on the web world. In our late december post, we had discussed on this backlink or off-site issue. It was reported during this time by many people that their number 1 or 2 rankings were going downwards to number 6 in Google.

Since then the issue has been a hot topic on the discussion forums. With so many people talking about this one issue, there sure has to be some truth in this. But it seems that even Google employees are clueless on this matter. Later, it was being speculated that the position six Google ranking was being reversed.

However, now on a discussion forum thread, it is being said that once again people are losing their rankings on Google. Though the matter is still unclear but indeed there has to be some truth in the matter. It could be that Google did create this odd demotion and then handed it out to some top performing websites on some of their key searches. And here we are clueless! though we can describe the effect, we cannot find or fix the cause.

The discussion is hot on: Webmasterworld
