Barry Schwartz has reported that Google is now sending notifications to webmasters once they have reviewed a reconsideration request submitted via Google Webmaster Tools.

This is considered to be a major step in respect of Google handling reconsideration requests. Earlier, a webmaster would submit his request and have no idea on whether Google has reviewed the site or not. In certain cases, the site would appear in the Google index, on other occasions, nothing would happen to it for months. Webmasters didn't had any clue if they were supposed to clean up the site more or if Google had yet to review the site for reconsideration.

Google has finally confirmed that they are now sending emails to webmasters who have submitted a reconsideration request. It is possible that the email will be sent days after the request has been made and will begin with the subject line “We’ve processed your reconsideration request for [mywebsite.com].”

However, if you receive this notification and still your site is not back in the Google index then your site is likely in “violation of our [Google] guidelines.”
