Google Testing Dates on Search Snippets
October 10th, 2008 | 966 Views RSS Feed
A lot of members of the Webmaster World are spotting amazing and interesting Google interfact tests that are related to the placement of dates on snippets of SERPs!
According to the page one results:
“In performing certain search queries, Google appears to be inserting the date of the page in front of the Snippet. I just performed one search and 5 of the 10 results had dates preceding their Snippets. One of them had the date towards the end of the Snippet.â€
Michael Gray has spotted this as well.

He believes that Google is finding that it is important to include the date so many times
But according to me, when a user is indulged in site-searching, he or she can actually get some very good results! Therefore the dated results are actually proving to be incredibly useful, specially in this tech-era where things are always changing with the passage of time!

I just did a search and didn't see it. It has been showing the dates during a news search though – which, of course, is highly relevant…
