Google To Face Litigation Over Patent Infringement
December 28th, 2007 | RSS Feed
The big Giant of Internet search engines would have to answer the charges which a Wisconsin company has thrown at Google. The charges pertain to a toolbar feature used to generate Web links from data gathered by search. A federal appeals court overruled a lower court ruling that Google's AutoLink feature hadn't infringed the patents of HyperPhrase Technologies LLC's.
The AutoLink feature of the toolbar allows users access to more information than standard Web links. It makes this happen by recognizing addresses and book numbers and then providing helpful links of books on Amazon.com or of to online maps.
Although, HyperPhrase had accused Google's AdSense as well about the feature that allows companies to display text ads on their websites. However, the court overruled this accusation. The news has been reported at Bloomberg.com
