omfg so im not alon then I have had one site in particluar come and go for the past 10 months I doubt it will ever get back to where it was :( Am I best to leave the site as is or keep link building for it.

This is highly annoying especially as the extra cash from these sites comes in handy :P

I'm not sure if this qualifies as a glitch, but it's certainly weird.

My site is www.demonzmedia.com

For Sydney Web Design (~8 position)
For Web Design Sydney (~96 position)

I can appreciate that my site is probably more optimised for Sydney Web Design, but it seems pretty weird to me that there is such an enormous difference. Any thoughts?

I agree with both of these responses. I think as SEO becomes more prevalent sites will fluctuate even more in the rankings. Sitting still with your site will be a penalty in itself.

I think that each day more and more other sites are being built and sometimes getting top page position if you are an expert in SEO is easy, maintaining it is the issue, there are more and more competitors getting in the way these days and you playing with bigger number of competing sites which can jump the results higher too.

This is in response to "I haven't done any changes... and went down in rank..." I would just like to say that even if you don't do anything your competition is almost without even trying. Each day new websites come out, more and more links are exchanged, etc. Therefore, one of the best methods to maintain rank is keeping a relatively constant stream of content as well as a moderate level of diversified links. As it is very easy for Google to pickup large link influxes and although there are certain exceptions you must first learn what those are in order to keep on top.

Same thing has been happening to me. One day I'm on the first page and the next day I'm off the top 100. If anyone knows what's going on please tell me! Ahhhh!
