Google v/s Yahoo! In Japan
December 27th, 2007 | RSS Feed
Hitherto, Japan is only a handful of search markets where Yahoo! has lead the race with 65.9% market share compared to Google who's market share stood at 27.8% till a couple of months back. But Google it seems is has made some strategic efforts to change the figures in its favor by striking a deal with Japan’s largest mobile phone operator NTT DoCoMo as has been reported at TechCrunch.
The deal is supposed to result in at least two consequences. First, Google would be the default search provider for the 48 million customers of the Japanese company. Second, the Japanese company would switch to Google Apps for providing email services to its clientale.
Will it have the impact on Google's market share or not only time will tell, but it wouldn't be surprising to see Yahoo! take up some counter measures as well in order to protect its lead in the land of the rising sun.
