Google's Experimental Search To Be Seen On SERPs

Google has surprised users with innovative products from the Google Experimental Labs every now and then. This time around the users are getting links to try “Google Experimental Search” on the footer of many SERPs, observes Eric Lander.

The five experiments to try your hands on are supposed to be experiments aimed at improving the search experience. However, only one experiment gets activated at a time.

Alternate views for search results: This experiment shows results on a timeline, map, or in context of some other information types. To accomplish this task Google shifts key dates, locations, measurements, etc, from select search results so that the information can be viewed in a different dimension.

Keyword suggestions: This one's meant to improve your search results by providing alternative suggestions to your queries in real time (as you type).

Keyboard shortcuts: This one enables you to navigate search results quickly through keyboard shortcuts, at present there are 6 available. (viz. "J" Selects the next result, "K" Selects the previous result, "O" Opens the selected result etc.)

Left-hand search navigation: This experiment lets you dig deeper in a particular type of content (viz. patents, products, news, etc.)

Right-hand contextual search navigation: This one is similar to the left-hand search navigation and lets you to search deeper in a particular type of content or other search related terms albeit from the right of the page.
