"In Stream" Video Ads From Google
December 27th, 2006 | RSS Feed
After the acquisition of YouTube a couple of months back, Google has moved to the next logical step – Video ads. Google started testing video ads last week. The 15 second ads were created by Beet.tv for Allstate. The commercials appear after video content and were sold at $15 per thousand views, with the money split between Beet.tv and Google. Andy Plesser of Beet.tv has said that the site gets about 1,000 visitors per day. By clicking on a graphical overlay in the commercial, viewers are taken to a landing page specially developed for the purpose.
AdWeek has reported that Google is also working with MTV to distribute ad-supported clips via Google's AdSense publisher network at the same time.
