FROM MY PEN……..
One of the easiest ways to get loads of targeted visitors is via blog comments. Commenting on blogs can be fun, and is one of the amazing ways to drive traffic to your business!
When talking about commenting on blogs, let me tell you that I am really against promotional messages. Here I want to give more emphasis on posting quality content and information that will benefit others. This is the perfect way to bring loads of traffic to your blog.
These days, many blogs are enabled with comment moderation. This feature ensures that the comment won't be published until it gets approved from the owner itself. So if your comment is spammy, trust me, there are chances that it won't get published!
The only way you can get success is to post on blogs that receive good traffic. It is really hard to find these blogs. But if you would go with my advise then I would recommend doing a search such as: "your niche + blog" on Google and find the ones that seems to be really popular.
If you want to gain more amount of traffic, then it is recommended that you should create your blog and market it! Post it up to blog directories. Make sure to invite your visitors to comment on your blog. You can also run your own community and secretly advertise the thing! SECRETLY!

Here is a list of "not to do" when you indulge yourself in commenting on blogs.
- Never write "nice post" or "I agree" and never follow these comments with a link. It will become obvious that you are trying to get the juice out of these comments… just try leaving these kinds of comments on any blog and they will be deleted. That's for sure.
- Make sure the content of your comment is of "quality value." Mis-information, any kind of grammatical errors, or even bad language, written in an unprofessional way will reflect badly on you. It will only do more harm than good.
- Never overload the text with an ocean of keywords… The owner will surely get to know that it is advertising done in some other format.. Do not think that it is you who knows the ABC of keywords.. everyone else does!
- Never post your comments all at once. When I get to notice that the same person ” XYZ” is indulged in commenting on a number of posts, all in a row, then I make myself pretty aware that this person is FAKE!
- It is never advised that one should post the same comment across multiple blogs. Use variations…
Let us have a look at as to what all we can do in order to enhance the quality of our search!
A. To find the blogs that are relevant to your niche, you can add keywords like:
"how to" +"keyword phrase"
"problem" +keyword
B. To search for the "help" words in the post title, you can add these in titles: to your search query
intitle:"how to" "keywords"
intitle:"how can I" "keywords"
intitle:"tutorial" "keywords"
C. One can even search for the blog posts where some discussions are going on…
intitle:"problem" +keyword +"1 comment"
"tutorial" +keyword +"2 comments"
Doing these can prove to be really beneficial as far as your business enhancement is concerned! So what are you waiting for.. posting Blog Comments can be really tedious.. But if it is done in the right way (LIKE I HAVE MENTIONED! AHEM AHEM..), then trust me.. you will find yourself in the midst of SUCCESS!!!

"Deep linking" – or linking directly to an individual post on your own blog (rather than the home page) – in the "website" box when posting comments on blogs is a nice way to direct visitors to an article that's specifically related to the topic on which you're commenting.
And this can also be a great way to get some new exposure for an older post that never quite seemed to get its due.

I just wrote a similar post over at my blog. It was more oriented towards what not to do when posting, or to not be That Guy.
Your #1 was my #1. GREAT POST!

Interesting post for sure. I've always enjoyed adding comments at other blogs that I enjoy reading. Those folks who author those blogs will typically start reading yours if you develop a relationship with them.
My advice is be sincere and stay away from pandering…no one likes to be patronized.
Good work Navneet…

Great post! Sorry i couldn't help myself either. Lmao.
I have to say it is so frustrating and annoying to get spam comments, especially the comments that make no sense or are repeated 6-7 times or more. I had one spammer take one of my reply comments/msg to another member and this person had the audacity to copy and past it word for word and leave it as comment in the same post. Lol. The other one I am starting to get annoyed with is the linkback e-mails we get stating either:
1. I added a link to your site now please add a link back to mine.( I'm sorry but do I even know you or your spam site?)
2.Please add my link to your sidebar/site and e-mail me back with all your info and ONLY after I see you've added mine then i will add yours. They act like they are doing me a favor or something. (Got one of these today and was laughing so hard that I had to write him back and let him know that he would never get a linkback from almost any site and never ever a reputable one with that e-mail)
If you are going to ask for a linkback( especially from a much higher traffic site) then you should add their link prior to e-mailing them and make the e-mail personal and explain why it would be beneficial for the both of you to link to your site.
If you are e-mailing a site with a higher PR rank and more traffic then you have to look at it from their point of view. Why would a site with 1,000 to 100,000 visitors a day link to your site that may struggle to get 50 visitors a day. What would they have to gain from linking to you?
Just something to think about if you are gonna e-mail many sites/blogs and ask for linkbacks. If you write/post good content you will notice sites linking to yours w/o you ever having to e-mail anyway.
For example we were only getting about 40-100 visitors a day/25 subscribers two weeks ago and a post of ours made the recommended site/front page of one of the top 3 social networks and that first day we had over 3,500 unique visitors and since then have been averaging around 1,000 visitors a day, subscriber numbers went up by 6X and we have another 250+links to our site.
Just goes to show that content can still be king.
Wow my fingers feel like I just wrote a post instead of a comment. Lol. I wish you all the best of luck with your sites. God Bless and Take care.

I feel google do not count backlinks in comment field…its true atleast in my case…but not yahoo
October 1st, 2008 at 19:14
Google won't count a nofollow link from comments. But it is still a nice way to get people click on your site link and with some testing which we have done, it seems Google does crawl those sites/pages more even if it won't show them in backlinks.

Thanks Navneet for your quick reply..can you please tell me
1) Is there any problem in linking to same page multiple times (that is page A linking to page B two or three times)
2) Is there any problem in linking a page to that page itself (that is page A linking page A itself)

cool

It appears that spamming of keywords in comments is uncontrolled, and that website owners don't take the time to remove them.
Its really a matter of morality
of the commenter to post responsibly.

I agree that one should empahsise on meaningful participation and not blatant self promotion. I started to use blogs as a part of my SEO strategy about 6 months ago. I always make it a point to add something of value to the post even if it is a small experience on a related topics. My comments always get publshed and I have benefited a lot form link backs and even click thorughs. You will be surprised how many people will actually clcik on your signature link if what you have added to the discussion is of value.

Yes. this method is now getting popular way of obtaining backlinks. Though it is good to get link on any decent blog, concentrating on blogs that offer 'dofollow' links would be more useful as the dofollow links would help increase the actual link popularity .

It is getting increasingly more difficult to get backlinks using blogs. Thanks guys for supporting it!

Thanks for the great post. Link building via commenting on blogs isn't as effective as it used to be, but it can still be a valuable source of traffic and link juice, especially from blogs in the niche that you're targeting.
