Live Product Search Includes More Images Now
April 26th, 2007 | RSS Feed
Live Product Search team has announced of certain improvements in query stats which now include more images. The statistics given by the team tell the story better.
- Percent of Top Results with Images (Before): 79.2%
- Percent of Top Results with Images (After): 88.6%
- Improvement: +9.4%
The team has also clarified that there are not 100% images in product searches as “many sites, including very reputable merchants like Amazon.com, BestBuy.com, and AceHardwareSuperStore.com, block image crawling bots or seriously throttle them.”
There are helpful insights into what comprises a relevant product search. According to the Live team, three factors are included in measuring the relevancy, which are:
Is the product what the user was looking for given the query?
Is there a product image?
Is the merchant reputable?
