The new MSN homepage is terrible!!!!

  3. Rebecca Says:

Please, please, pleeeeeeeese bring back the old home page. I miss it. I HATE the new one!

  4. russ Says:

pathetic.was somebodies job on the line that they had to come up with this crap.stop trying to fix what's not broke.

  5. unhappy Says:

Another case of some college grad earning there keep by screwing around with things that are not broken. Can't they keep them busy sweeping floors and making coffee runs? MS seems to be working really hard to chase all there costumers away.

  6. ful Says:

I hate the new msn home page, why fix what's not broken. It seems like just when I get use to something some genius thinks he's got a better way and changes it! Does anyone know if you can get the old page back?

  7. Brian Says:

The new page flat out sucks. There is effectively zero contrast between the background & the text. Everything is moved around from the previous version, and the page comes across like a cheap company newsletter. It reminds me of a piece of junk mail that I'd throw away on the way into my home.

  8. Toby Says:

Dont like it, looking for a new one. My wife uses the AOL home page (which appears to be what they tried to copy ) and they do the format better . along the lines of Facebook changes, "new" Mcdonalds coffee, New coke, etc. Asuccessful product that bites it due to "market research". Msn home page was a classic that should have been left alone….

  9. RBW Says:

The marketing geniuses over at MSN claim to have added 10,000,000 users in the last year. So, what do they do? Well, the ONLY smart thing to do when they are clearly gaining market share: They CHANGE!!!

Are we a country so caught up in "change" that we can't even keep a perfectly functioning, perfectly efficient, and navigatable (not sure if that's a real word) homepage the same?

I agree with Brian, just the contrast of the background page and the headlines is lousy. It's quite hard to scan the page for stories of interest, as could be done with the traditional page. It's not a matter of getting used to it either – it will not grow on me. It is too hard to see.

This change isn't supposed to be permanent until the beginning of the new year. The question now, is HOW DO WE GET RID OF THE NEW MSN HOME PAGE and get the old one back in the meantime? I've cleared cookies, and it did not work…

  10. Sparker Says:

Thanks. I totally agree. I've had MSN as my homepage for over 10 yrs. If they keep this crappy
"update" I'm switching to another homepage forever. Yuck.

  11. rich Says:

I too am searching for a new page. Any ideas?

  12. rich Says:

I too am searching for a new page. Any ideas?

  13. Janet Says:

    Absolutely hate it

  14. Janet Says:

switching to Yahoo today, hate it too.

  15. Walt Says:

At the bottom of the page hit the feed back button and leave your comments.
    The new msn is CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!

  16. Walt Says:

Go to bottom of page and hit the feedback button and leave comment.
New MSN home page is Crap!!!!!!!!

  17. sassy Says:

i hate it too. i want the old page set up back. is that possible…to get the old format back?

  18. what a mess! Says:

Just hate it! There is not enough color contrast on the page between the text and the background. The layout is difficult to navigate as there seems to be little rhyme or reason where to find things….. The old version was easy to navigate and was simple to find interesting headline stories to read. Things were accessible.
Whoever thought this change was good, is mistaken. I have used the old version of MSN as my home page for YEARS, and it has been a very user friendly site. Not any more! PLEASE give us the OLD version back….. or revamp this version to make it more useable.

  19. grumpy user Says:

I have to agree…this is no improvement. Would someone please give us an "opt" out of using this new homepage? My isp is Comcast and I have never switched to their homepage as MSN "was" better…may have to switch at this point unless we have the option to "go back"

  20. SKB Says:

My whole family absolutely hates the new msn.com home page. We want the old one back. Why won't microsoft give the users a choice?

  21. angie Says:

OH! I totally agree with everything you said!!! MY GOODNESS!!! The color contrast is horrible!! My laptop homepage changed to the new msn homepage, but our home computer didn't!! URGH!!! Is there ANY WAY To revert to the old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!??????????

  22. PAUL Says:

I HATE IT, SWITCHED TO FOX NEWS

  23. Jim Says:

This is an experiment gone horribly wrong. Not only is the product terrible, but the act of forcing it on people with no option to remove it was a serious mistake. How many negative comments is it going to take to get rid of this disfunctional piece of junk and return people to what they like and want? I have been a loyal user of Microsoft products in the past, but the method of fielding this change is a real slap in the face by Microsoft. Take all the comments above, combine them, and it still will not come close to how much I dislike the product and feel like I have been stabbed in the back for all my past support. It truly boggles my mind that a product this bad was actually released, let alone forced on loyal (previously?) customers.

  24. pma Says:

I agree with everyone above. Bring back my old MSN. I agree with the one above that said the old version was easy to navigate and was simple to find interesting headline stories to read. Things were accessible. BRING IT BACK OR I'M CHANGING!

  25. rick Says:

Don't know what you were thinking ???? I don't like it! Bring back the old one. If not I will change to Yahoo

  26. hawk Says:

This looks like a mistake. During the day my work computer shows the original homepage and I feel so much better. This new format looks like it didn't load correctly.

  27. Guest Says:

Please, please ! .I want the old MSN!!!!

  28. Jamaal Says:

i hate it!! so does everyone else.. so change it back. thank you

  29. Mike Says:

MSN, listen to your user. The new page sucks. Give your users the options to switch back and see how many stay with the new page. The results will be clear.

  30. Chris Says:

MSN as my home page for over ten years is now gone….good bye

  31. Terry Says:

I felt the MSN hompage was functional and easy to interpret. In other words I like and used it. It was bit of familiarity in a world gone crazy with change. I don't mind slight, measured improvements, but a wholesale change is very risky. It makes me wonder who the target audience is, and if there was any testing and feedback mechanism before launching. At the very least, MSN should offer multiple "fronts" and let the customer select what is right for themselves.

  32. Jen Says:

Ok, MSN, change your homepage back to the old format. My husband is irate because it changed and I don't need to hear his foul mouth going on and on about how it sucks.

  33. Raymond Says:

The new MSN homepage has yet to convinced me from not dropping it and switching to another homepage. Many familiar features are gone, so it seems the focus of MSN to its users. Bye!

  34. Kristy Says:

This is Terrible. I agree – some moron college grad is gonna get fired when FOXNEWS.COM gets all the jilted MSN users. I've always used MSN exclusively. Adios MSN.

  35. Mark Says:

It really is the pits… the old hime page was so easy to navigate with all the relevant headlines right there in a structured setting. Now its like I'm not getting all the news I want. This isn't the first time MSN has tinkered with their homepage and ended up reverting back to the old one when everybody hated the changes too.

but for some reason Microsoft's head honchos absolutely hate the default look of their site and figure that everyone else hates it too…

  36. Dana Says:

I agree with everyone else. The new look of MSN SUCKS!!

  37. Junebug Says:

This new MSN format sucks! I will no longer use MSN as my home page! The old format was just fine!

  38. Cara Says:

I will be changing my homepage as soon as I am done with this comment. I have read comments for years and never felt the need to add anything but this change has me livid and not to have an option to keep the old, better page is not a good idea…see ya later msn….

  39. Pete Says:

The new MSN homepage is a experiment gone bad. The format / layout gives me a headache. Seems to me… MSN has better things to do. The old page wasn't broken !!

  40. marcus Says:

I do not like the new homepage – I really liked the old one. Will be looking for a new homepage if the old one is not brought back.

  41. Roger Says:

Fox News is now my new homepage. The new msn is the worst piece of garbage I've ever seen. Childish colors, poor contrast, navigational nightmare. What were you thinking???

  42. A. Drigg Says:

THANK YOU Microsoft for allowing me to discover a better homepage, FOXNEWS.COM. I would have never thought about changing until you screwed up what I had been using (msn.com) for all of my previous 12 years of internet use. What a failure, quite possibly linked to Microsoft challenging Google ?? Without an opt out to this new format of MSN.com to allow keeping the better "old" format, I am like – GONE. Bye ~~~

  43. Robert Says:

I hate it too…. Switching to Yahoo! Please bring back Big Blue MSN!!!!!!!

  44. zorro Says:

Did Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid get jobs at Microsoft? It seem like they did… why else would you ram this crap down our throats without our consent or approval?

  45. Roger Says:

hey dumb a$$ ask me first before you get into my PC, then i can tell you to leave it alone, now it's all messed up.

  46. Roger Says:

I want money back didn't ask for this.

  47. pat Says:

please put the old home page back up. The new one is too hard to see with the light letters, there is no contrast. There was nothing wrong with the original home page. The new one is sure not user friendly for old eyes. Bring back the other.. Thanks, Pat

  48. Deb Says:

I too hate the new page home page. I'm looking for a new one.

  49. Will Says:

I agree with the majority…I know MSN wants to copy Yahoo's iphone-friendlier page, but a lot of us want one, just one thing on the freakin internet to seem somewhat permanent, even comforting. I hate the new page "preview", lets just hope someone of decision there reads these and lets us have our old page back.

  50. Bill Says:

    Well, this sucks!
Try something for grown-up people, not some 3rd world idiot scamming westerners!
MSN, your so-called "new" homepage is totally useless, worthless, and crap!
Hire an American to re-design the page if you need to, and LOSE the "BINGH" crap!
No one likes it and no one uses it !

  51. Susan Says:

Hate the MSN homepage….bring back the old one!

  52. jimv Says:

I hate the new page too. I will not use it as my default page. i will use yahoo and google

  53. Lisa Says:

Absolutely HATE IT! Want the old page back asap as I am looking to see who else I will use…Anyone else but the new msn!!

  54. Clint Says:

Preview SUCKS. I'm going to yahoo.

  55. Roger Says:

I hate the new look….Call me old fashion..but I like the old version better….I guess I am going to make google my homepage.

  56. Mick Says:

Here is fix although it will probably only last as long as the old page is still running. You are being steered to the new site via a cookie. Block the cookie and the old page comes back. TOOLS>Internet Options>Privacy tab> Move slider to Block all cookies. Then go to TOOL>Delete browsing history>Make sure cookies is checked and click the delete button. Close IE and then reopen it. The old page is back. You are welcome.

  57. Shamrock Says:

If this is what we are going to have to accept eventually – I'll be looking for a new home page too!
    I absolutely hate it!

  58. Deborah Says:

I hate it., especially the contrast and it's way too spread out. I'll switch to something else if I can't find a way to get the old msn page back.

  59. JoeD Says:

Wait another year, and we'll get an upgrade that looks like the old page. This way MSN doesn't have to admit they screwed up.

  60. Don Says:

I switched over to my Firefox browser instead of I.E. and the old blue page is still up, for now at least.

  61. Kim Says:

The new MSN homepage is horrible!! Please bring back the old version, I HATE this one!!!!!!!

  62. Phil Says:

What survey?? I never saw one and given the choice I would have chosen the old version over the new one. The page is a mess and I will change my home page if I can't switch back to the old version! How about sending out a survey now???!!!!!

  63. Sharon Says:

I hate the new page and their attitude. I don't hate change, just THIS change. Like another post said, it burns my eyes. So if I can't get the old page back I will find a new home page. Yahoo here I come!

  64. debbi Says:

I AGREE THE NEW MSN PAGE IS A NIGHTMARE!!!!!!!!!

  65. Sharon Says:

Let MSN know how you really feel. (not that they care) There is a "feedback" button on the very bottom of the new MSN page that brings up an opinion survey.

  66. Mike Says:

I love the new page. It loads fast and I can see it on my phone. Face book and twitter are right their fully integrated.

All you old people need to get with the times. My Dad curses everytime he sees the preview. His tantrums are just like a lil baby in the check out line. Difference is babies spend more time being cute,,,you old crabby guys aint that cute.

  67. judy Says:

don't like the new msn home page it sucks. why can't we have the option to choose.

  68. Mike Says:

It is terrible and Bing sucks big time and needs to go!!! Iam going to use a different home page.

  69. astar Says:

The new page is just wrong. I've gone to Google and Yahoo!!!!!

  70. Martie W. Says:

All of the above can't be wrong! This new layout/set-up SUCKS!!!!! I used Yahoo until they forced a n infantile, goofy page on me. My wife recommended MSN, and I was happy…till now. I'm going elsewhere until you get rid of this incoherent bullshit page.

  71. nan Says:

This new homepage it TERRIBLE! I can no longer easily see news highlights…and the format sucks!
Change it back to the old version!

  72. GUEST Says:

LISTEN TO THE USERS THE NEW MSN HOME PAGE SUCKS HAD MSN FOR 10 YEARS AND WAS HAPPY . NOW SOME IDIOT HAD NOTHING TO DO AND SCRWED IT UP. WANT THE OLD ONE BACK

  73. Poky Says:

Can someone explain why one day I have the old MSN homepage than next day it's the NEW MSN page than the next day it back to the old one???

  74. GUEST Says:

how do i opt out of this msn preview page i hate it help

  75. Sherif Hanna Says:

How can we get the old home page back? If I don't find a way to do that I will be leaving. anyone have any suggestions for new home pages?

  76. Summe Says:

I hate the new msn home page. I am now switching to another home page.

  77. Misty Says:

The new design is HORRIBLE. It isn't easier to use and it just plain ugly.

  78. Debbie Mack Says:

I was one of the "test cases" for the new MSN homepage last fall and couldn;t stand it. I was thrilled on December 1st when I turned on my computer and it had gone back to the old familiar blue MSN homepage. Today I'm now back with this ridiculous new homepage. As consumers what ever happened to being given the option of choice for what we wish to have in our homes and lives?

  79. rita Says:

HATE IT, IF IT'S NOT BROKE, DON'T FIX IT.

  80. galen Says:

MSN refuses to reply. I hate the new msn/preview and I have told them so. What I have ever done to them except pay for their service? I'm using MSN premium services. I may not only switch my homepage, I'm may switch my internet provider. Their new homepage sucks, BING sucks big time. They refuse to give people what they want or at least allow them an option, they are going to lose out big time.

  81. Galen Says:

I found something that works, but I don't know for how long. If you are running MSN premium services and still have the install application "msnsusii" , run the application. Since MSN is already installed, a page is displayed with a next button, click it, the page disappears and the application closes. I then opened my browser and the ols MSN homepage was back. Close all of your browsers before running this application. I don't know how long this may work for, but it works for now.

  82. Jaded1 Says:

Please keep the old MSN page. The only thing MSN should change is the employment status of the developers and management that thought the new page was a good idea (and obviously fabricated their research and survey data to support it). If the aim was to make a page that works better on smart phones, then make a separate page specifically for that. If the new page becomes permanent, I too will be joining the mass exodus.

By the way MS, HOW MUCH DID YOU GUYS PAY ALL WEBSITES TO DO THE GLOWING WRITEUPS??? The story is the same everywhere. Wonderful writeup praising the new page, sometimes followed by a couple very positive comments, then followed by a flood of REAL comments from users who despise the it! I rarely post comments on anything, but the new page is SO bad felt I had to. Please wake up MS and keep the original MSN page!

  83. Whosyourdaddy? Says:

Your daddy should take away that phone, but HE probably fears the tantrum that ensue…

  84. cecilia Says:

This new MSN homepage is really bad, and I hate it when it shows up. It's NO GOOD and SO SLOW to navagate. Leave the old MSN homepage on, and get rid of this useless new MSN Homepage. When this new homepage shows up, I just turn-off my computer. Don't want to bother with this new-SLOW homepage at all!

  85. Lynn Says:

Yes, the the MSN format has a "less cluttered look" and that is because one has to do so much additional scrolling to find anything. I HATE it, too, and have switched to Yahoo.
Question: Why does my sister and mother still have the old format??? I want it back!!!

  86. Vicki Says:

I do believe i cannot get the old home page back. Please send me some dark glasses this white is horrible. Why in the heck did you ruin a good thing MSN OLD home page rocked. Is there anyway to format back to the old way ???????

  87. steve Says:

JUST SOMETHING NEW TO DEAL WITH…..WHAT IS GOING ON ……THE OLD PAGE WAS EASY…..THE NEW PAGE IS IMPOSSIBLE…..AM NOW LOOKING FOR ANOTHER…….WHY CAN'T THEY GIVE YOU THE CHOICE OF KEEPING THE OLD OR ACCEPTING THE NEW ……….GOING TO SIGN ON TO FOX………..MSN.COM NOW SUCKS…………

  88. Sandi G. Says:

    ABSOLUTELY HATE IT!

If I wanted the less "cluttered" Yahoo…I would use Yahoo, or the really less "Cluttered" Google…then I would choose Google. When I want Clutter…which is what I chose as my Homepage…that's when I go to MSN. Not Anymore….Time for a NEW more "cluttered" Home page. Foxsports.com anyone?

  89. Greg Says:

I hate the new local edition MSN homepage too. How do I change back to the way it used to be?

  90. Pat Sterling Says:

Go back to the original home page hate this new one

  91. sheila Says:

Hate the new page— bring back the old– or Yahoo here I come.

  92. Karen Says:

I hate the new MSN home page, I hate bing and I am changing my home page to something else. I don't want someone telling me what sites to view (bing) now I can't find a damn thing. Change it back or don't, it doesn't matter. OUT OF HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  93. rlr Says:

I hate the new home page that popped up on my computer today! The white is too harsh on my eyes and I can't seem to customize it like the other one! I don't like bing either and have never used it except the first couple days trying to "like it" but google is so much better!

  94. jjj Says:

I guess I'll not only be using google for my searches, but my homepage too. I really liked the old one, been using it for years. Well if change is good then that's exactly what I'll be doing. Changing from MSN and setting my homepage to google. Thanks for ruining a good thing!

  95. joani Says:

Horrible, horrible–and Bing is horrible, too. I am changing to another site.

  96. Betty Says:

How do we get back our old page we like? Or are we stuck?

  97. Betty Says:

Guess have to use anothe homepage as mentioned above

  98. Captain Quint Says:

I'm guessing that the people behind this change will keep trying to push the new MSN page, or some variant of it, because for them to switch back would be like admitting to their superiors that they made a huge mistake, wasted tons of money, and all have jobs that are unnecessary. Make sure to click that feedback link at the bottom of the new MSN page and send them your opinion. Also, post your opinion on the MSN blog (http://msnblog.msn.com/blogpost.aspx?post=1351217... Maybe if the higher-ups at MS hear from enough of us and realize that this embarrassment ranks up there with New Coke, the Pontiac Aztek, and Cutthroat Island, they may just give us our old page back…

  99. Cindy Says:

I HATE the new msn web page. I can still look at the old web page at work. This new page is not as easy to use. I liked getting the headline news, sports, and money on the right hand side of the page. They should give you the option of the old page or the new one. If they keep the new format then I will have to make a different web site my new home page. I have had msn as my home page ever since they started. It would be a shame if I had to remove msn as my home page.

  100. Lee Says:

if i cant have my old msn home page then i will go to vahoo i want to stay but not with this junk let us have it back or be a long

  101. Robert Says:

I Hate the new msn page bring back the old one it 's a lot better

  102. need a new home Says:

AWFUL!!!!!!!!! How much, exactly, did 'Bing' shove down your throats to allow this?

Give 'Bling' their blood money back, and get your users back!!!!

  103. need a new home Says:

AWFUL!!!!!!!!! How much, exactly, did 'Bing' shove down your throats to allow this?

Give 'Bling' their blood money back, and get your users back!!!!

  104. need a new home Says:

AWFUL!!!!!!! How much did 'Bling' cram down your throats for you to allow such a thing? You guys at MSN give them their blood money back and get your customers back… and if 'Bling is YOUR thing–ABANDON IT!!! It is WORTHLESS!!!

  105. boooo Says:

    I don't know why my comments keep getting deleted…so I'll use the kiss method–Bing sucks…nice and sweet…

  106. Janet Says:

Absolutely HATE the new homepage. My computer did revert back to the old homepage for awhile, which was FANTASTIC!!!!!! Unfortunately, it is back to the hard to read, hard to follow, new homepage etc. I find it miserable to use and I am looking at other options.

  107. JAY Says:

SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!! WANT THE OLD MSN BACK!!!!!!!!!! THIS IS TERRIBLE

  108. Brian Says:

    New MSN Preview SUCKS!!!
Click on a new tab, open an “Inprivate” browsing window and then click on the home page button

  109. Marjorie Says:

Absolutely terrible. Hurts your eyes. I will change to something else. Why break something that is perfectly good. I do not like bing either.

  110. Rick Says:

IF I dont have the option for the old msn home page I will find a new home page.

  111. witt Says:

Fire the person who made the new change. This person is just on the payroll looking for something to do to keep his paycheck.

  112. KKEMP Says:

I HATE IT TOO. I WANT THE OLD ONE BACK. PLEASE RETURN TO OLD FORMAT.

  113. Joe Says:

Hate the new home page. Hate hate hate it! Change back to the old one you twits!

  114. Jackie Says:

I have had msn homepage for over 10 years. I HATE THIS NEW LOOK!!!!! If it ain't broke why fix it?
I want the old page, please, please, please.

  115. Roz Says:

What the hell have they done to my old home page?????? Please bring it back–this new one is total crap!!!!!!!!!!!

  116. not happy Says:

I have changed my homepage to aol. The decision maker on the new msn page needs to quit making up things to do while on a the golf course. Listen to your managers and customers on this one.

  117. Andrew Says:

Where to start, the colors look fitting for an elementary school girl.  There is less information less organized.  People who look at the MSN homepage are looking for three things: 1. New, 2. Entertainment, 3. Searches.  And a little personalization is fine to a certain degree.  The original looks polished, informative, professional.  This looks unpolished, less informative, annoying layed out.  Maybe you could do something with the internet top bars.  I have 6 stupid bars at the top of my screen. 6!!  Maybe 1 or 2 nicely layed out would be awesome, maybe I can change than in explorer, but it's annoying.  And guess what, when I download something, I don't want another stupid bar.

  118. Andrew Says:

I almost forgot, Bing sucks.  You would think a search engine might, you know, find what I'm looking for, instead of random crap.  Here's an idea, you don't actually pay me, like the geniuses who thought of this new home page, but how about an area where I can click to narrow down what I'm searching for (which I really (really) nead for bing.
Oh and btw, thanks for everyone who finally learned to create a website for filling up the internet with useful garbage.  I can remember when in College, trying to find information about something, and oh wonderful a professors lab paper or assignment popping up.  Sweet, more garbage I get to sift through, because I have so much time on my hands to go threw something you just happened to put on the internet instead of email.  Which is different than this…..cause when you type in some chemical reacting with some other chemical, you're not going to pull up this blog.

  119. Larette Says:

Please, please bring back the former MSN home page!  This one is so hard on the eyes.  I have a glare problem and simply cannot view the new Bling page.  Why can we not be offered a choice of which page we prefer, the former one or the Bling one

  120. Liv Bliss Says:

Hate it, hate it, will no longer date it. I'm going to have to switch. I want proper stock exchange stats, not just "plus or minus" numbers (or is that a glitch on my page? it's so stupid, it must be). I am creeped out by the "local" info (mostly PR) that I didn't ask for; what business is it of M$ where I live? And the combination of white space and clutter! — what genius actually managed that?
