Your can now open attached spread sheets in Google Docs & Spreadsheets. Your Gmail account now has a new link through which you can can view attachments in Google Docs & Spreadsheets. The attachment will open directly in Google Docs & Spreadsheets , requiring no extra step. This new feature can be of great help and will definitely make Google Docs & Spreadsheets more popular. It seems like Google will soon add more such features for other types of documents as well.
