We have heard it so many times, everyone is talking about it. Yes, its Web 2.0.  It has remarkably increased the importance of social sites. The social sites are those websites where readers have more content to add to the site then the owners themselves. There are three Web 2.0 based sites that are given proper significance by search engine marketers, namely, the bookmarking  site like del.icio.us, blog trackers and search engines like Technorite, and article recommendation site like digg.

Social bookmarking sites are for the purpose to allow people to gather their bookmarks or favorite sites  on-line so that they are accessible on any computer. These sites generates the list of all  popular websites and pages, thus generating traffic.

Blog search engines needs no introduction, at least not to the blogeers, this systems rewards sites with a large number of fresh articles. These services are mainly used by bloggers  to track articles within their field of interest.

Last but not the least, Social search sites, are sites like digg, Netscape and Reddit, where users can come up with their suggestions and also vote for interesting articles. Believe it or not but by getting your article on the front page of digg, your servers will have a tough time handling all the traffic. And again, many of the users of digg are bloggers and journalists, and may write about your article. So be prepared for those comments.

A piece of advice, while using these services just don't propose your own article but make it versatile. Now how to do that, you think about it.

One thing I just learned at SES in Chicago is that Delicious always uses a no follow tag. So for those of you counting on it for any real link value… it's probably a waste of time. Try Magnolia instead.
