Yahoo's search marketing team recently came out with new ad targeting features to give its advertising partners more return for their investment. Here what the Yahoo Search Marketing Blog has to say about these new features.

“Starting now, you’ll be able to target the audiences you want, when and where you want them, with a lot more control. We are rolling out demographic targeting, ad scheduling (which you might know as dayparting), and enhanced ZIP-level geo-targeting at the ad group and campaign level.”

The three most important features of this launch are:

Demographic Targeting

This feature allows you to select your desired audiences on Yahoo! Sites (both Sponsored Search and Content Match). It gives you a wide user base and in-depth understanding of its audience. The feature also uses a concept called bid adjustments, which let you set a premium bid for the categories that are worth more to you without losing other traffic volume.

Ad Scheduling

Ad Scheduling feature help you reach your customers when they are most likely to respond to your ad. According to the user's time zone, you can schedule your ads. This feature works best with both Sponsored Search and Content Match. However, it seems that the ad scheduling features allow bids to be adjusted upwards only.

Enhanced ZIP-Level Geo-Targeting

It is actually an advanced version of the beta ZIP-level targeting feature. This feature allows advertisers to have a more control over the usage of geo-targeting. You can set different levels within the same ad campaign as well as select individual ZIP codes with the help of this feature.
