According to Webmaster World, there are major ranking changes cropping up in the Yahoo! SERPs. Speculations has it that Yahoo! might have started an algorithm and indexing update for Yahoo! search engine.

As of now, there are no confirmation posts on the Yahoo! official blog. However, by going through the threads in Webmasters World there is a clear signal that an update is taking place for Yahoo! search engine. Some of the excerpts from the thread are as follows:

“Yahoo is like clockwork, pretty much rolling out a new update every 4-5 weeks. This update was right on time. The last one was announced on March 3rd.

We lost about 50% of our Y! traffic during the last update and we noticed a nice lift today.â€

“Looks like an update to me. See Wikipedia pages climbing to the top for many results. Why do they even want for each term a Wikipedia to turn up. If I want a Wikipedia explanation or information, I'll go to it myself. I find it a step back for search resultsâ€

“All of the gains that my travel site has made over the last couple of months in Yahoo are mostly gone now.â€

“Wow! These are awful! Looks like they are still turning the volume up on URL matches. There was even a keyphrase.me.uk with no real content or backlinks ranking above .coms with hundreds of backlinks and pages of unique content.â€

If this is indeed an update, then the results shown so far are somewhat mixed. It's just a matter of time when Yahoo! releases the update details on its Blog. Till then we just have to wait and see as to what other changes are reflected in the Yahoo! search engine result pages.
