Q: How does the Google and businesses tackle authorship? Can the company’s logo be used as the picture on Google search?
A: Authorship is only for individuals and not for a corporation or enterprise. A business needs to appoint a spokesperson, who is usually the CEO or founder of the organization, and identify him as the maestro of the realm that the business covers. This means, that the owner of the business should be given the authorship of all the views and opinions, although it is the staff writing.
The picture on Google search denotes authorship and as mentioned above, authorship can exist only for individuals, not for businesses. Therefore, logos or trademarks of companies cannot be used as the default picture on Google search.
